10 years of internet development
I've been a Microsoft programmer for ten year. I started with Classic ASP and Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 at a company called Mazware Ltd, which now is part of the Internet Business Group.
Later I worked for Dell Computer Corporation in Bracknell (UK) working on the Service and Support website for EMEA.
I worked on contract for the likes of British Gas, BP Amoco, Schlumberger, and Unilever, and later started a web design agency with a friend which was closed three years later in 2002.
I spent two years with Apex Interactive, an e-learning agency in Berkshire as a technology specialist for Learning Management Systems.
After an extended time in South America I am contracting again and taking work where I can find it.
What I actually do
I work from home on a range of contracts developing internet applications. I enjoyed that fact that I don't have to commute, nor deal with daily office politics.
I'm a consultant developer, which means I analyse your business, understand the requirements of your business and architect the necessary application. My development skills focus on ASP.NET with C#, XML/XSLT and Microsoft SQL Server, but you don't need to know that, just that your application is going to work the right way, the first time.
I have helped move two companies to the Microsoft .Net platform. The last big .NET project I architected went out to over 100,000 users (internal and third parties) and was an entire content management system for the delivery of business process information and e-learning for Visteon, one of the largest producers of car parts in the world. This was developed with a team of ten other developers, contributing ASP.NET, HTML and Shockwave Flash.
Employing me
I'll be straight to the point. My clients trust me because I get the job done, keep my promises and deliver what and when I say I will. I'm good with your clients, your team members and your business sponsors. I enjoy what I do and this hopefully rubs off on others. I have a broad knowledge of technology and its applications. I know my web standards, JavaScript, accessibility, CSS and Flash ActionScripting too.
